Re: Third Stage, how long?From: Stmidwife@aol.comThu Jun 22 09:33:42 2006
Gail, It would depend on bleeding, vitals, ect. I do not/can not use oxytocin out of the hospital excpet for postpartum and I do not have a theatre at homebirths (unless it is a really weathy person in LA and they have a screening room, LOL). Also I do not have a lot of room to be manipulating the placenta alot at home either since there is no surgery room/team available there. If you want to know the longest I have waited, it was 2 hours with a 7th baby where Mom refused to go to the hospital and said that her placentas always took this long. No bleeding, vitals fine, placenta came out when she voided, not a problem. That was about 8 years ago. Sue In a message dated 6/22/2006 12:11:29 AM Pacific Standard Time, ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net writes:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
