As Joe said, this is where the line between beneficence and patient autonomy blurs, and when the stuff hits the fan, then the practitioner gets it. Obviously this is tragic for the patient.

My own approach - suggest all lumps be 'taken off the radar screen" or at least have a stereotactic biopsy then document, document, document. What did the mammogram suggest?
