FW: Annual HIPAA InspectionFrom: Elrod, Darryl G Maj 48 MDOS/SGOBO (Darryl.elrod@LAKENHEATH.AF.MIL)Wed May 31 04:37:58 2006
2. Chart holders outside of the Provider doors in the hallway. A. Should not contain sterile medical instruments or loose paperwork. We actually had tenaculums, scissors, and lube in a few of these. B. Should only contain medical records/paperwork, and they must be turned facing the wall or information should be non visible C. It was suggested that we cover the Plexiglas windows with paper to darken or block anyone from seeing the information So this is what we were just given as part of our annual HIPAA inspection. Talk about micromanaging! Now medical instruments are considered under (our hospitals) HIPAA regulations. Anyone want to start a http://www.ihatehipaa.com website with me? Or a http://www.ihatejcaho.com website? Glen //SIGNED// D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
