I used it a couple of times. It frees the midwife and allows a quiet C/S. BC Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol. 1999 May;84(1):101-2. Intrauterine resuscitation by rapid urinary bladder instillation in a case of occult prolapse of an excessively long umbilical cord. Runnebaum IB, Katz M. Frauenklinik, University of Ulm, Germany. Occult umbilical cord prolapse is a dramatic obstetrical emergency jeopardizing health and life of the fetus. Distending the maternal urinary bladder provides alleviation of pressure on the cord by reducing uterine contractions and by maintaining fetal structures elevated in order to protect the fetus from asphyxia until Cesarean delivery.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
