>Garry Garry- Twice in my career I have seen a significant other harmed by a prescription a well-meaning physician in our department provided to the patient. One was a dystonic reaction to phenergan (both the patient and her husband were ill and leaving town on a trip). The other was a true allergic reaction to metronidazole, leading to an expensive emergency department visit. The boyfriend was uninsured and threatened to sue if we did not pay for his ED visit. He even had the nerve to tell us that we were in error for prescribing a medication without first speaking with him about allergies or seeing him as a patient. You can't win sometimes (often?). The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
