I used to have a "3 strikes" rule but over time I've modified it to a 1-strike policy. Everybody gets one chance, EXCEPT if they are make racist or threatening comments to any one of our staff members or threaten to sue (then they're out on the spot). Some people have major stressors in their lives. When those are combined with poor coping skills it may result in inappropriate "Jerry Springer" behavior. I've found that some of our most loyal patients are those that we've had to redirect with a professional reprimand for their first-time poor behavior. But, as you say, if you let it go on it just perpetuates poor behavior, which makes you and your staff miserable. Have a great weekend. Ashley

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
