Re: question: uti in postpartumFrom: Raymond Stephen (stephen.raymond@dhhs.tas.gov.au)Sun Apr 30 18:35:24 2006
If Macrobid is Macrodantin (nitrofurantoin) then I say it is the best choice for any UTI - no resistance and no side-effects. Steve -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Jordan Oland, MD Sent: Sunday, 30 April 2006 11:35 PM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: question: uti in postpartum 3d post delivery with uti, most likely catheter associated (pt had retention with epidural and cathx24 hours). Now, with urinary symptoms. Pt is pcn allergic and is breastfeeding. Was considereing using Macrobid as pt and infant at low risk for g6pd. Any thoughts or advice?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
