We usually give anti-HSV drugs in the last month to suppress attacks." She says; "I've done research and I don't think there is enough evidence to show that it does anything. So I don't want the medication, let's just schedule the section." Silly me: " You know that most OB's and Perinatologists in this area would suggest anti-HSV medications. It has reduced the incidence of sections in my experience, for active herpes. The medications are very safe. Let's go through the risks of C.Section...blah...blah". What would y'all ( MDs, CNMs, LMs,Unlicensed midwives, midwifery students, FPs, Doulas, RNs, lurkers) do? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
