Go over the risks/benefits of all options carefully, probably over several visits, and allow her to choose. I do think that physicians should have the right to refuse to perform surgery they believe to be unnecessary. If that's a moral hurdle for you, I'd refer her to someone willing to do it. It sounds like her mind is made up.

All risk/benefits stuff done. She is 35 weeks - there aren't that many more visits and, yes, it seems to me her mind is made up.

I also explained to her that this is an elective section without any medical indication. I suggested that she call her insurance company to let them know she is having an elective section. Personally, Scarlet, I don't think they give a damn!

I want all bases covered. Documentation, documentation, documentation.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
