Re: Maternal Hypoxia At 21 WeeksFrom: ainsron (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Tue Apr 18 11:47:36 2006
Because of the differences in oxygen dissociation curves for maternal and fetal blood, the fetus should still have had PO2 of 90% or greater at a maternal PO2 of 70%. Shouldn't be a problem for the fetus. Ronald E. Ainsworth, MD, FACOG -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Dean Huffman . I am seeing a patient who had thoracic surgery at about 21 weeks gestation for a mediastinal teratoma. Post operatively she had O2 saturations in the 70's for a number of hours. I am trying to find whether there was a MFM consultation does while she was in the hospital (in a different city). Does anybody have any literature resources or personal experience that you can offer for giving a prognosis for this patient. Ultrasound examination at about a month post surgery is completely normal.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
