Re: CNM asking questions for the OBs

I am sorry that it sounded snippy. The OBs and I share an office and talk about this stuff all the time. Either in the office or over OR cases, etc. (I first assist on almost everything.) They are the ones that say they can't keep up right with all the new info. And for the reasons stated. We are sort of isolated out here, so we talk about practice issues all the time. And we are friends too. THEY are the ones who ask 'what are the web guys saying about....? Like the discussion about elective C/S. The info on the list was very timely and the informed consents and wording really impressed them. So, this is one of those situations that if they read that email they will probably laugh and say-yup-that's us right now. I just have more time to read and do the Internet searching. I also used to teach at a university, so I like using the computer. One of them hates to turn the things on. We were just curious what other practices were doing about the Motrin and breastfeeding. I knew the lit said OK, but they wanted to see if it was a 'midwife thing' or if the OBs were using it too. They noticed that the list was the default web page today when one of them was doing rounds and we were laughing about 'the middle wife' being the one who is trying to drag them into the computer age. (OB- aren't you the one that is supposed to be out in the woods digging for things? me- I am in the woods-it just is in cyberspace and not West Virginia.) So they are not offended by me. I guess we have all just gotten used to working together. Sometimes things come across wrong in email. They did tell me to say "Thank You' for the input on the Motrin. We are going to put it on the standing orders postpartum now so we won't have to write it in every time. Vicki CNM, West Virginia

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
