You cannot bill for a fern done by a nurse, so I guess it comes down to a hospital decision. However, since most OB patients are DRG or flat rate, what you bill for is irrelevant

What I'm saying is, the hospital can bill for the fern done in the lab - it's difficult to bill for a fern done by a nurse on the floor.

The hospital took away nitrazine paper from labor and delivery, and substituted the useless "amniswab" in it's place. Can bill for the swb, but not the segment of nitrazine paper.

The nurses do blood glucose on L&D - can't see why that is allowed.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
