It must be nice to practice somewhere where patients are accountable for their informed decisions. That's not the case here. There is no such thing as true informed consent, because even if you explain in careful detail the possible good and bad things that can happen depending on which option the patient chooses, if any of the bad things happen, the doctor invariably "did something wrong" and the patient hires a lawyer. This mentality has severely damaged the patient/doctor relationship in our country.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
