Re: South Dakota law bans nearly all abortionsFrom: Len2976@aol.comTue Mar 7 16:09:41 2006
Gail, Laurie-- Thanks for trying to speak for me. I don't care if someone has strong beliefs and practices them. However, I do have a problem with those who 1) impose these beliefs on others, and 2) act in a hypocritical manner. In my opinion it is hypocracy to say you care so much about women and children (babies) and then not support programs that help poor mothers and their children. Personally, after a genetic amnio (AMA--38), I learned my son was 47XXY. After counseling about my options (including TOP) and research on my part, I chose to continue the pregnancy. My son (luckily) is very mildly affected. However, I've attended many KS workshops and support groups with parents of boys with significant developmental, academic, social, psychological, behavioral, and physical problems. They encounter major barriers getting help with both the medical, psychological, and educational needs of their sons. Because I live in an area where the public schools are poor and I wanted the best for my son, I tried to enroll him in first a Catholic and then a Christian school for both kindergarten and 1st grade. In both instances I was told only "normal" kids were accepted. My son went to small private elementary school followed by a Catholic H.S., and is now in Community College. This is due to my efforts without any help or support from "good Christians" who put such value on protecting the unborn--but ignore the born with problems. Lenora McCall, CNM

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
