I bet that there is a new tech in the OR who gets the job of cleaning/wrapping and labeling the instruments. Everytime we get a new tech (which is not often in our small facility) we play "I wonder what is in this package?". Since the scrub techs know what happens we usually have anything and everything in the OR for the first couple of weeks and the tech has to rewrap and label everything that is in the wrong label. Makes them learn quick. It also keeps some of the surgeons from getting mad. They keep a running tally on who screws up the most labels. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
