Re: Neonatal suctionFrom: Babycatchers@aol.comWed Mar 1 16:49:03 2006
In our rural hospital there are 2 peds and 1 FP doc that does peds. With 1 full time OB, one part time OB and 1 CNM they would never get any sleep if they came in for every mecc delivery. They grumble and fuss when we REALLY need them to come in for a bad baby. I wouldn't want to piss them off unnecessarily. If the OB has a bad baby they call me first (CNM) because I live closest- then the ped to manage the baby until we can ship it. Our nursery is not staffed unless there is a bad baby and a lot of time- I am the staffing. Vicki Smith, CNM, MSN- West Virginia Midwives- Changing the world one baby at a time.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
