I've always said that the people that put them in, should have to take that set out. Norplant was a situation where the removal was completely dependent on the ability to correctly place them.

Ultrasound might help for localization but until you do the skin incision, it will hard to know how difficult the procedure might become. I would certainly warn her that the incision may be much larger than the one she started with.

The other option, just leave them.
