I agree, it simply depends on how much risk she is willing to take.

Ingrid:

She may have as many children as she would like, and will encounter increased risk of bleeding, abnormal placentatioin, adhesions, etc. as she has more cesareans, and it is not predictable. I am not citing articles (sorry), but the bottom line here is that she needs to meet with the Ob physician and discuss things. Personally, and perhaps incorrectly, I've never told someone to stop having children due to too many Cesareans unless there were other factors involved. Of course, to tell them to stop is cutting off your nose to spite your face, in some ways!

woman would like to have more children after this, but she is scared because she has been told she can only have three cesereans. Does anyone have any useful opinions? Citations? Thanks, Ingrid Gold, CNM, Phoenix

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
