Has anyone ever studied/reported on the total length of the "incision" with laparoscopic procedures? That is, add the length of each one and see how long your "total" incision is? I don't recall.

Good point Joe. I can remember Veasy Buttram used to chastise the "laparoscopic surgeons" for making 3, 4, 5, 6 "puncture sites" and taking 2 hours to accomplish a procedure just to say they did it laparoscopically. He would say, hell, I can make a small low incision that is smaller than their total incision length, perform the procedure and be home in bed in 30 minutes...

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
