I've helped a general surgeon on an abdominoplasty at the time of a hyst and thought it was a fascinating combination. (Although my favorite combo was the face lift/TAH combo I saw in residency) I'm just curious if any private practice gyn is doing such things themselves, and if so where did you get training. I've done some abdominoplasties - basically an exaggerated "scar revision" with removal of a big crescent of lower abdominal fat/skin. Then overlap the fascia in a vest-over-pants type thing and close over drains. After a few kids, the lower abdomen has lots of redundancy that can be excised. It's not enough to have to move the belly button, like the plastic surgeons do, but it has a pretty good effect and they like it. The only "drawback" cosmetically is that you have to make a wider than usual Pfannenstiel, almost to the anterior superior iliac spines. Joe P.
