I believe that the study showing that was a little underpowered to prove NO benefit. I would have to go look it up to see for sure. If I remember correctly when this all first came out, someone calculated that a study would have to have several thousand patients in each arm to show a 50% reduction in the incidence of meconium aspiration syndrome. Since it is easier to show a positive effect, it would seem likely that at least that many would be needed to show an absence of effect.
