.. Check out the legalities of sending e-mail. You probably should have her written permission to send e-mail since, like post cards, it is not considered to be private. What some people do is to have a web site that requires a password for patients to be able to read their e-mail. It gets rid of the privacy issue. You migiht check ACOG on this. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
