Did you do it voluntarily? Because I took the Boards in 1981, I do not have to take recertification's, unless I want to. At one time, I started to do that, then as I looked at the process, I said to myself, "Why am I doing this?" and I stepped back and said forget about that. Ronald E. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
