Re: Roberts Confirmed As Chief JusticeFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Thu Sep 29 17:08:00 2005
Thanks for asking that question, Rich. It is good to hear from Dan. I fear that it is possible for Roe v Wade to be overturned. Big move backwards if it happens. Women and their partners will make the decision to terminate - whether it is legal or not. And there will be significant medical and personal consequences as a result. We couold not legislate other "moral" questions, such as alcohol and this is one we shold also not legislate. Let the person making the decision answer to her maker. But most of you probably already knew that would be my response. I did not know this until after I was accepted into my residency, but due to dire financial concerns in raising the children they already had, my mother had a "kitchen table" abortion back in 1956 or 57. Luckily the surgeon who gave her the name of the doc who came to the house - also said that if she bled one extra bit she could call him - so she did and had that immediate emptying of the uterus. So we did have a mother for the family. Dad then had a vas ... in the days when the doc doing the vas said he had to have a note from Mom's doc saying she couldn't have any more children (I was #3) ... Mom's doc said "oh - you can still have more" ... and she told him to just go ahead and sign it. Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
