Re: off topic posts

I'm not going to get into a debate about whose disaster is bigger. Katrina has displaced MILLIONS of people, and pretty much levelled an old and historic city. There are still thousands of people trapped on roofs and in attics, most of them likely dead by now. Hospitals are flooding and shutting down. Diseases will begin to spread soon.

I have no control over what news the media chooses to report and how, and I know there are ongoing disasters all over the world. The US and it's private citizens and agencies have provided relief and aid in every corner of the globe, often to former enemies, and often getting kicked in the teeth for thanks. We will handle this one and I haven't noticed appeals for help going anywhere but to our own citizens, thank you very much.

That being said, El, that was the most insensitive post of all the insensitive posts you've ever posted. We here have friends and family in NOLA and we are concerned. Dr. Joe, you have my permission to deck El if he ever sets foot in the US. I won't clutter the list with my concerns about my own family, their plight being trivial because they are ALIVE.

We will continue to pray, and you may laugh if you wish. Freedom of religion is alive and well in the US.

For anyone who is interested or needs info on the condition of loved ones' houses and neighborhoods, there is an interactive Google Map at http://www.scipionus.com where markers are being posted, noting the condition of neighborhoods, and sometimes even individual streets. There are a lot of markers, but they thin out some as you zoom in. Fairly long download, probably need a high-speed connection.

P.S. On a lighter note, and slightly closer to topic, today was my last day in the office I have occupied for 21 years. I am officially semi-retired and working from home. (Every-other-week outreach clinic on Friday's, to keep my Spanish skills up, occasional half-days covering residency pts on L&D, and precepting in residency office. Otherwise gardening, home renovation, and volunteer work.)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
