Re: Admitting labs, wasTocolyticsFrom: Elrod Darryl G MAJ 48 MDOS/SGOBO (Darryl.elrod@LAKENHEATH.AF.MIL)Mon Jun 13 10:43:15 2005
I've stopped that too. There was a good article from Good Samaritan in Cincinnati that reviewed hysterectomies and postop CBCs. I haven't missed a postop bleeder (that I knew about anyway) since I've stopped it either. The only postop bleeding issue I've had recently was after a c-section and it happened within the first 4- 6 hours. Getting a POD1 CBC wouldn't have helped much since she was recovering from a wound exploration and PRBC by that point. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
