Re: Habemus Papam!From: Diane C. (tdrcaste@yahoo.com)Wed Apr 20 08:59:04 2005
There are some truths that cannot be changed no matter who the messenger is. It is always best to stay with one partner. It is always best to have verbal communication between sexual partners. The mosaic laws may be "outdated" but does that mean we do not need hygenic practices? Same with sexual health. Spread of HPV is not good. Teenage sex/pregnancy is not healthy. What we implement is a safety net for sinners. I think we need to stick together (sinners who would rather not be). In my lifetime, I have not heard of anyone being excommunicated for OCP use. But does that mean that the communication and consideration necessary in NFP is not a good thing? I know of one woman (1960's) who went to the priest before her sons' first communion whom "by the rules" had to confess before she could approach the alter with her son. She used ocp's because she nearly died in her last pregnancy. She was forgiven, even without a "contrite heart" for what she was doing and allowed to recieve communion with her sons. And for physicans and NP's who deal with Catholic's who have had abortions, I ask you to inquire about the "Racheal Project" in your local churches. About two years ago, there was an article in a Archdiocesan newspaper about Emergency Contraception this newspaper explained that since it's action was to prevent ovulation and the meeting of sperm and egg it was to be considered as (unnatural) oral contraceptive pills. Not as God planned it, but NOT an abortifacient. I think it was said best, that we have a multitude of sins to worry about within the Church; genocide, racial cleansing, poverty, apathy, intolerance etc. Some of the "American" issues are just petty peeves.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
