Re: OB: Vasa PreviaFrom: art fougner, md (evsono@pipeline.com)Wed Apr 6 14:21:29 2005
Garry I actually DID make the diagnosis prenatally - was following the patient for placenta previa when the light bulb went on and I had my Archimedes "Eureka" moment. This patient had, not placenta, but a narrow band of tissue with fetal vessels (demonstrable with doppler) covering the internal os. Her referring OB called me from the Recovery Room to thank me. (I'm usually like a broken clock - right twice a day.) That being said - this is not an easy diagnosis to make - and the sensitivity, specificity and predictive values of the ultrasound diagnosis of vasa previa need to be worked out. Art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
