Nipple skin tag

I saw something today that I have never seen before - a 20 y.o. primigravid patient, currently at 20 weeks gestation, who has a 1 cm skin tag originating from her actual nipple. The base is relatively small and my inclination is to do the least traumatic thing and simply tie a suture around the base and let it slough off. She is planning to breast feed, so I think better to deal with it now versus when it potentially causes problems. Any thoughts? Lynn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
