Re: Ultrasound as part of the normal examFrom: Elrod Darryl G MAJ 48 MDOS/SGOBO (Darryl.elrod@LAKENHEATH.AF.MIL)Mon Mar 14 18:00:10 2005
I just had one of that very scenario and it took 5 months for a 23 yo with a 18cm adnexal mass to hit my doorstep from the first time it was identified (as an enlarged uterus). Ultrasound inconclusive, recommend CT. Ct inconclusive, recommend MRI. Unfortunately for her, her ovaries were both normal by ultrasound, CT and MRI. The urologist and I are operating this week, still not exactly sure what we are dealing with. Anyone ever seen a paratubal cyst be that large? It is complete simple and fluid filled. Then the last line of the CT Scan report is: "An MRI may be helpful." Dan

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
