I was an interpreter, usually volunteer, before I became a nurse. I was interpreting free-lance for one particular case in which a man was facing 5 life sentences for cocaine possession under the then new kingpin laws. One day, when court was to be in session, they took forever to bring the prisoner down, court was delayed and I sat in the hallway with the defendant's attorneys. Court was cancelled after all. FUNNY THING someone had noticed while I was up in the court house, that there were deputies all over the courthouse lawn and at the doorways...I missed it as it happened after I went in. Come to find out, there was a rumor that my client had made plans for a forceful break. (it was all politics and rumor) Interestingly, the court failed to inform the defendant's attorneys or the defendant's interpreter...me. The judge and the DA's were all wearing flac jackets. That was the last court case I ever interpreted for (volunteer or otherwise). It was never my calling anyway.

Doesn't matter what they are in for; stock fraud or murder or passing a bad check. On top of that a guard searches the exam room first to make sure there is nothing in the room that could be used as a weapon; like defibrillators and scalpels. I would hope that theyu do the same at the courthouse.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
