No.

Depends on whether one of our 3 probes is "soaking" in the sterilizing solution or not. If one is available then I often do it on the spot.

Absolutely. As Brick suggested, it requires practice and skill to perform vaginal sonography (BTW, he and I learned from the same people),and the equipment is very expensive. I probably do around a thousand a year and can't imagine practicing without one in the office. Our insurers seem to pay for gyn vaginal sonograms, although many balk at paying for "OB" sonograms, even for first-trimester problems like threatened miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. They tell us that these problems are part of the global OB package. Thanks.
