Re: Assault on mother at term, survival chances for fetus

It can go longer Laurel, as long as there is no sequel of this movie to discover long term complications to the baby. So, if it is just a single picture, no follow-up with baby, then I have seen a fetal resuscitation of sudden fetal cardiac arrest as far out as 19 minutes. I would imagine that sudden maternal arrest would have similar outcomes. BTW, the baby did fine.

And, I too want the consulting job...pick me, pick me :-)

Laurel I'd like to just answer your question but the reality is that one of my fantasies is to have at least a part-time job consulting for the film and/or TV industry. Don't you need more input than just one question? Don't you need someone to get paid and hang around the set?

Oh well.....If the women's heart stops you have at most 10 minutes (and probably much less) before the fetus will die or suffer severe consequences like mental retardation, kidney failure, liver failure. If you want a healthy baby for the picture she either has to stay alive for awhile but be unconscious or get delivered really soon--I would suggest under 5 minutes.
