Re: discontinuation of tamoxifen

I've talked to several oncologists over the past year, and read a couple of pieces, and it seems to me the whole area of aromotases (kinda' reminds me of med school biochemistry and abrcadabrases, I never did get those down) is an area in evolution. Might want to speak with someone specifically in the breast CA mgt area to get some input from there. I know this question of what to do after Tamoxifen (or should one switch partway through Tamoxifen therapy) is being widely discussed.

In this instance you have done what you can to reduce her risk and I think she then stays off the Tamoxifen and doesn't "need" anything else.

If she has further questions - I would get her to go to a Breast Cancer Center for discussion. I think changing to Evista just for breast protection would be about the same as continuing the Tamoxifen. Same ongoing clotting risks etc -- but less uterine risk.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
