DysgerminomaFrom: Dr. Ainsworth (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Tue Mar 1 19:12:21 2005
I have a current patient who I have cared for through three unremarkable pregnancies in the past four years. She is 29, six weeks postpartum and plans no further pregnancies, they are considering vasectomy. About one year prior to my care, she had a dysgerminoma treated with RSO and her left ovary was bivalved and biopsed, she was pregnant at the time and miscarried after laparoscopic lymphadenectomy, which had one positive node. She was staged as III-C and underwent three cycles of chemotherapy, triple drugs and no evidence of recurrent disease, now 5yrs post-treatment. Her tumor markers were negative at the time of surgery and remain negative. Any thoughts on whether or not she should have a LSO (or LVH/LSO) now that she has completed child-bearing? I'm trying to reach her oncologist to see what he recommends and expect to hear from him by the end of the week.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
