NOt in my book -- it is possible that if the uterus grows bigger - the strings will get pulled up inside.

Having said that I had a patient with about a 16 week fibroid uterus with no complaints (bleeding pressure etc) who wanted an IUD - I put it in - I think that was in the days of the Cu-7 (as she is now in her early 60's). she did great with it. We left it in til she was about 18 months after last menses and took it out.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
