Last night on call several female residents were discussing this issue, and all of them felt that being an intelligent physician was a drawback with regards to dating. These are attractive, well-spoken, bright and enthusiastic young ladies who should have young men waiting in line to ask them on a date. My wife noticed the same problem years ago in college, and finally gave up, telling the guys she met that she was studying "interior design" rather than biology/pre-med. When she started doing this they paid a lot more attention to her. I can't imagine the attraction to someone you can't talk with. I wonder if we'll see more single female physicians as the number of women entering medicine increases. Ashley

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
