Careful what one asks for...you might get it and more...a few years ago, at a conference, when someone from the floor brought up the potential for the problems discussed in your post, he was practically demonized by a crowd so intent on proselytizing for the good goal of reducing beta strep infection sequelae the very valid scientific concern he tried to express got very short shrift indeed. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
