Well, I always play the testimony game: what am I going to say to the attorney representing the patient if I get sued:

"So, Doctor. Your MFM consult recommended immediate c-section and you chose to wait, and the baby developed herpetic encephalitis. What where you thinking of, with your general training background?"

What are the chances of this baby developing herpetic encephalitis two weeks after an outbreak treated with Valtrex, now with recent ROM? I would say the MFM is playing the CYA game.

My two cents.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
