Re: KeloidsFrom: ainsron (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Tue Dec 14 17:50:36 2004
You could always clamp it with allis clamps for a couple of hours and avoid sutures, at least from what I have heard from some "older" guys. On the other hand, try and avoid an episiotomy, use good perineal support, etc. Ronald E. She was very clear though that her sister told her that they had to use something special because of her history of keloids. All I can figure is that maybe they used something like a Vicryl Rapide since it supposedly dissolved quicker??? Glen D. I just had a patient at 17wks tell me her twin sister forms keloids and had to have 'special sutures' to repair her episiotomy site to prevent keloids. My pt wants to be tested if possible. Any ideas on either the test (doubtful) or the suture in question? Glen D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
