1 in 30 to 1 in 40 individuals of Mediterranean ancestry, including Sephardic Jews, are carriers for beta-thalassemia; 1 in 3,600-6,000 are affected.

What genetic diseases are prevalent in Sephardic Jews?

Why am I answering these questions with more questions, Gary? That's because...yes...you guessed it! I'm Jewish. And yes, there may be liability involved here - I've heard many Jewish comedians say' The Jews regard the word Sue, not as a proper noun, but as a verb". Happy Hannukah to all!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
