Maybe it is convenient and idiot proof, but at that concentration you would have to start at such a slow drip rate - 2 to 4 mls per hour - that you would be forced to piggy back it into another drip, thus doubling the cost of drip sets and IV fluids; and then you would use only about half of it even at a rate of 16 - 32 mls per hour. Still, I suppose there would be enough left over at the end to allow you to run it in the fourth stage so that would not be wasted. But in practice, that sort of cost prevents us from thinking about it! Steve Raymond Garry E. Siegel, M.D. wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
