Re: GYN: Cytotec for hysteroscopyFrom: Steve & Eryl Raymond (eryl@intekom.co.za)Fri Oct 29 17:12:13 2004
Despite all the people who say they use cytotec in the post menopausal woman with good effect I absolutely doubt that it has any effect in a non-pregnant let alone postmenopausal cervix. What you are seeing, if you think you are seeing an effect, is a placebo type effect which would have happened anyway. The only way to achieve a reversal of cervical stenosis is to use oestrogen for a week beforehand, and even then you may have to use physical dilatation in order to insert a hysteroscope. If the use of oestrogen in someone with atypical endometrial cells fills you with horror, all I can say is that one 7-day course is unlikely to be a problem. Steve Raymond Garry E. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
