Andy Rooney -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Elrod Darryl G MAJ 48 MDOS/SGOBO Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 2:29 AM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Newborn pulseox Group, I have recently changed practice locations and have seen something I have never seen in 11 years. I walked into the nursery and saw a newborn with a pulseox wrapped around his penis. No kidding, it was taped right to the penis. It gave a great tracing, but does anyone have any experience with such a thing? What risks might we expect from such a practice? I have asked the nurses here and most have seen it used in other facilities. I have asked other colleagues and they are appalled by its use. Comments? Thanks, Glen D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
