Cincinnati - AgainFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Wed Sep 8 17:06:55 2004
I have a high school friend with severe dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia who is 49 and is pretty certain she wants a hyst - not the Balloon Ablation her gynecologist is proposing (to the point of not being willing to discuss a hyst). This friend is a praciticing psychologist with 4 kids, 2 in college. She has been treated with OCPs - which reduce the sypmtoms, but was still getting worse on the OCPs. 4 days of "down time" with her menses between bleeding and pain. Any of you have any names of gyns in Cinci that aren't going to say "you have to keep that uterus because menopause is right around the corner"? Especially any that are good with the Laparoscopic supra cervical hyst? My friend wants a second opinion (and possibly transfer of care) from someone who will at least discuss ALL the options. If she can be convinced the doc has reviewed her history - exam etc and really can say that the Ablation is the best because of X, Y or Z - then she would consider it. But at this point she thinks the doc is TOO conservative. So -- does anyone have any suggestions? She'd even consider going to nerby places - Lousiville, Columbus, Dayton. Thanks Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
