It seems that one aspect that hasn't been mentioned is that the method of action of an IUCD is to prevent implantation. However, a Mirena probably also prevents ovulation as well. It is just possible that if a fertilisation were to occur the night or two before removal, implantation could still follow in the hours after removal if the timing were just right. After all it can be up to 7 days between fertilisation and implantation. art fougner, md wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
