Harrison, I'm curious as to where you get the notion that there's anything "soft" about the Kerry approach to terrorism. I've heard nothing from any other observer which would lead to that conclusion. Bush started out quite appropriately after 9/11 by eliminating the Taliban from Afghanistan, but it's been nothing but downhill from there. By attacking an Islamic country which posed us no threat whatever, he not only turned the world's sympathy into the world's animosity, but he provided an incredible recruitment incentive for young, angry Muslims to join Al Quaeda. If anything, the world has now been made less safe than it was before. Kerry, on the other hand, is a trained AND experienced military man who went out of his way to volunteer for front line duty (Bush didn't exactly do that). I hope people will be able to see beyond the rhetoric and begin to understand that our best hope for security in the future is with a leader like Kerry who knows who the enemy is and will not waste money and lives as Bush has done.
