Glen, The vets use some very powerful meds (flucort is one of them) that stimulate estrous in mares for cycling to be used in combination with AI. These meds are cutaneously absorbed and females working in the field must be very careful. Lynn

I had a G1 at 20 wks call from her vacation somewhere in the lower 48 where she had been around a horse farm. Evidently, the vet had been doing something to stimulate ovulation in one of the horses and made it clear to the patient that she could not be even around the horse (not the drugs, the horse) because of a high risk of miscarriage.

Can anyone explain what might have been meant by this? I am completely at a loss as to what to tell her.

Glen

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
