And in your years of experience in the field, what would satisfy you in this pursuit of patient autonomy and choice? Do we need to have loaner library of Williams Obstetrics for our patients to check out at the beginning of pregnancy? How do we make sure they read or understand the material? Perhaps a final exam at 36 weeks, to make sure they are safe to enter the hallowed halls of L&D, like the exit exams now required of our high school students? If they don't pass, they have to repeat the pregnancy. ;)

I guess this means you agree with me since you have nothing further to say on the subject.

And no, I don't believe women are told the risks and potentials long term complications of routine obstetrical management of vaginal births- epidural, episiotomy, lithotomy pushing positions, vacuums/forceps.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
