Subject: disappearing breasts
Patient comes in complaining that her breasts have disappeared. Prior to her
last delivery she was a ‘c’ cup. 6 months after breast feeding she is a ‘b’
cup. One year later she comes to see me because she cannot even fill an ‘a’
cup. Physical exam notes minimal breast tissue. Lab w/u is totally normal
(metabolic panel, FSH, LH, Progesterone, Prolactin, E2, DHEA-S).
Testosterone is < 20 ng/dl. MRI of brain is pending to rule out central
tumors (overkill since there is no elevation of Prolactin.) Not sure where
to go, but I’ve never seen this before. I mean there is MINIMAL breast
tissue, similar to pre-puberty.
Any suggestions? (I know this is Houston, but she is a military wife and
Tricare does not offer augmentation surgery.)
